Sir Walter Buffalo Lawn Turf is a variety of Australian-bred soft-leaf grass first developed in the Hunter Valley region of NSW. Sir Walter Buffalo Lawn was originally created by Brent Redman around 1995 to be an environmentally responsible lawn turf which is able to withstand the really tough Australian Climate, which exists in many areas of Australia.
Original forms of buffalo were very rough and scratchy to feel. Soft-leaf grass was the result of specific breeding to produce different varieties of buffalo grasses that retain a tough durability but is still soft and nice to touch. Sir Walter was preceded by other soft-leaf buffalo grasses such as Shade Master Buffalo, but supersedes them in winter colour retention and toughness in many conditions.
Sir Walter is a registered Turf product. Quality Farmers are specifically chosen and each turf farm must must have a license to grow this type of turf breed. Buyers of Sir Walter Turf receive a certificate to verify that they have received a genuine version of Sir Walter Turf and not an inferior substitute.
